Woven Wastepaper Basket by Deborah Needleman
Sorry, currently out of stock
With a deep appreciation for beauty, craft, gardening and nature, renowned American Editor and Writer Deborah Needleman decided to trade deadlines and headlines for weaving and willow. From her Upstate New York studio, Deborah works on a full cycle process from planting and harvesting to grading and soaking, to making. Unlike art, where the artist creates something entirely new without a framework, craft involves a dialogue between your creativity and the material, tradition and history. Each piece is a limited edition, hand-crafted exclusively for Cabana.
The Woven Wastepaper Basket is a versatile piece designed to be used as a cachepot for plants or a wastepaper bin. Inspired by traditional Irish craft, this basket features a unique twilled weaving technique that adds both strength and style. Based on baskets seen in the 1970s Irish public television documentary "Hands", this weaving pays homage to traditional craftsmanship while still maintaining a modern and functional design.
