Salone del Mobile 2024 sprang into action last night with the opening of Cabana's first shop in Milan. Celebrating in true Italian style, the Big Cabana Family turned out in force to toast the publication’s 10th Anniversary and see its new treasure trove on Via Borgospesso. The elegant store, open seven days a week, houses Cabana's homewares and fabrics, one-off antiques, books, handcrafted objects and trompe-l'oeil wallpaper.
Designed by Cabana's Creative Director and co-founder, Christoph Radl, the immersive space mirrors Editor-in-Chief and co-founder Martina Mondadori’s childhood home in Brera, which was decorated by Renzo Mongiardino.
The great and good of Milanese society were there to celebrate, including twin sisters Nathalie and Virginie Droulers - both wearing matching olive green trench coats - and Ginevra Visconti, Ilaria Bernadini and Luchino Visconti di Modrone, all spilling onto the street (while blocking traffic), and drinking champagne.
Everyone was dressed in homage to the publication, decked out in bold patterns, eye-catching prints and cheerful colors. Alberta Marzotto was resplendent in a Stephan Janson ensemble, offset by a red bucket hat, while Valerie Tribes arrived with her poodle, Marcelle, the dog sporting a gingham cravat. Alessia Margiotta Broglio matched her leopard print coat to leopard print trainers.
Guests stayed well after hours, while a select few, including Lavinia Marzotto, Valentina de Santis, Giorgio Guidotti, Ginevra Visconti and Luisa delle Piane, continued the celebrations with an intimate dinner at Bice. Traditional dishes, such as truffle beef carpaccio, aubergine parmigiana, pappardelle with scamorza sauce, saffron risotto, topped off with apple tart, were served on tables adorned with Cabana's Creta napkins, and lots more champagne.
