DECORATING | ROOMS & GARDENS | WORLD OF CABANA

Rooms within the garden, rooms looking onto the garden, rooms inspired by the garden… Whatever guise they take, these indoor-outdoor, nature-filled spaces are undoubtedly good for the soul. We’ve gathered our favorite garden rooms, from the World of Cabana and beyond, as we get ready for Spring and all things Botanical.

Garden Room Grandeur in Vistorta

Not many garden rooms can boast the soaring ceilings and vast windows of this grand space at Vistorta, the Brandolini D'Adda family's bucolic estate. Immortalized in the pages of Cabana N18, Vistorta takes indoor-outdoor living to new heights.

This rustic orangery full of palms almost reaching the table provides an atmospheric backdrop for events and celebrations at Palazzo Parisio in Malta.

A Serene Green Space by Rose Uniacke

Aptly dubbed the ‘Queen of Serene’, Rose Uniacke’s refined, quiet approach to interiors extends to garden rooms too. In this restful space in an 1805 Georgian Townhouse in south London, Rose has used a warm, earthy toned green - 'Moor', from her own paint collection - to reflect the gardens and park on which the property overlooks.

A Verdant Dining Space

At home in Connecticut, interior decorator Bunny Williams has designed a verdant, orangery-style dining space full of natural light and evergreen plants. It even sits within her gardens for a true indoor-outdoor experience, while providing all the practical comforts of a fully enclosed room.

A Whimsical Space in Palm Beach

The Old Church in Palm Beach (below) is something of a local landmark, a wood-shingled former place of worship transformed into a whimsical family home by Florida-based interior designer Mimi Maddock McMakin. Its garden room, in classic Palm Beach pinks and greens with plenty of white wicker, exemplifies the nostalgic decorative style of this Florida hotspot.

A Victorian Winter Garden

Formal winter gardens became de rigeur in 18th century Russia and Europe as aristocrats and affluent homeowners sought to create interior gardens and summer style sanctuaries throughout the year. This wild winter garden (below) in a Victorian house that once belonged to Robert Kime feels timeless and rather magical. Who knows what could lie beyond those windows.

At Dar Zero (below), the 300-year-old Moroccan home of Creel and Gow founders, Jamie Creel and Marco Scarani, the courtyard gardens are never far from view with door-free interior spaces directly connected to the elements.

Garden Pavilions

Not so much a garden room, as a resplendent garden pavilion, this wooden temple to nature (below) also resides in Bunny Williams’ rolling gardens - enabling Bunny and guests to enjoy the natural world with ample shelter.
