PETER SCHLESINGER

American artist Peter Schlesinger’s ceramics transmit a love of the sensuous nature of clay and the artist’s interest in the history of pottery. Schlesinger works on a relatively large scale creating bold, inventive forms reminiscent of stone, bronze, ironwork and other materials which hint at a more ancient tradition. Today, he is represented by Sperone Westwater in New York and Tristan Hoare in London. For ‘Speak, Memory’, he presents 12 original works in glazed ceramics and stoneware.

Founded in 2017 by Aaron Aujla and Benjamin Bloomstein, Green River Project has a research-based approach to building furniture and creating interiors. Along with private commissions for residential interiors, each year they produce collections of furniture and sculptural objects centered around a unique narrative. Bode is an American luxury brand that expresses a sentimentality for the past through the study of personal narratives and historical techniques. Each piece crafts a story and is tailor-made by artists and artisans. For ‘Speak, Memory’, they present 4 furniture pieces in leather.

DAHYEON YOO 'Debaroun'

Seoul-based leather weaver Dahyeon Yoo has achieved mastery in a kind of leather craft that she pioneered utilizing ancient techniques. Her exquisite jewel-like leather boxes have their technical origins in Korean rice straw folk crafts of the Joseon period and their form in the modern era for which Yoo has designed them. In addition to her leather work, she also crafts other finely constructed folk objects like hand brooms utilizing traditional plant fibers, like rice straw, ramie, and hemp. She operates her workshop under the brand name Debaroun. For 'Speak, Memory’, she presents 20 pieces in woven leather.

Sophie Coryndon’s work is characterised by an array of decorative techniques, materials and fascinations that she combines to create intricate wall reliefs, objects and drawings. A rich tapestry of inspiration; illuminated manuscripts, medieval altarpieces, historical ornament, cabinets of curiosity, myths and magic realism make up the groundwork of her work. ‘Stitched’ slowly into each piece is an exploration of beauty and wonder, a quest for awe and a calling to reenchant, illuminating in gold’ what we have and what we stand to lose. For ‘Speak, Memory’, she presents 10 original works.

JAMES CHERRY

James Cherry is an artist who works primarily in sculpture. His work is focused on the manipulation of materials to transform sound objects into viscerally intimate sculptures that mimes the undercurrents of queerness, nostalgia, and the zeitgeist of today. This same methodology is applied in the design and fabrication of his lamps. He is represented by Tiwa Gallery in New York.

SOPHIE WILSON

Fine artist Sophie Wilson graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 1997. Following a career in design and communication, she moved from her home in London to the Fens in 2015 after buying a beautiful, but very neglected 16th century Manor House. Whilst digging in the garden, she found old shards of English slipware pottery and was inspired to create ceramics using the same techniques. She started making one-off pieces at her kitchen table, using white slip and sgraffito on terracotta clay, decorated with a loose hand. Her playful illustrative pieces often depict motifs inspired by historical ceramic movements from Japan, China and Europe, glazed in washy, saturated colors which reflect a memory of a long, established aesthetic.

For ‘Speak, Memory’, she presents 36 ceramic pieces including decorative dishes, Jardinière and a lamp.
