To celebrate The Atlas of Craftsmanship, curator Deborah Needleman invited seven visionary creatives—Emily Bode, Dahyeon Yoo, Green River Project, James Cherry, Sophie Coryndon, Sophie Wilson, and Peter Schlesinger—to craft inspiring new works using materials from LVMH Métiers d’Art. Set against Casa Cabana’s Renzo Mongiardino-designed interiors, these exceptional pieces—spanning ceramics, leatherwork, sculpture, and woodwork—engage in a dialogue with the Italian master’s legacy, offering fresh perspectives on this iconic space.

MEET THE ARTISANS
Bringing together seven visionary creatives, The Atlas of Craftsmanship explores the fusion of heritage techniques and contemporary expression. Using materials from LVMH Métiers d’Art, each artisan reinterprets tradition through ceramics, leatherwork, sculpture, and woodwork, crafting inspired pieces that bridge past and present with skill, imagination, and material mastery.
DAHYEON DEBROUN
Leather Weaver
Seoul-based artisan Dahyeon Yoo has mastered a unique leather weaving craft, drawing inspiration from traditional Korean rice straw folk techniques of the Joseon period. Under her brand Debaroun, she meticulously handcrafts exquisite leather boxes and finely constructed folk objects, such as brooms made from rice straw, ramie, and hemp. Each piece reflects her dedication to craftsmanship, often taking anywhere from a day to a month to complete. Yoo’s work was shortlisted for the Loewe Craft Prize last year.
PETER SCHLESINGER
Artist & Ceramicist
Los Angeles-born Peter Schlesinger is an artist whose work transcends mediums, guided by a singular vision. Though recognized as a painter, photographer, and ceramicist, he never confined himself to a single discipline. Over the past 30 years, his sculptural ceramics have gained international acclaim for their originality and depth. Represented by Sperone Westwater (New York) and Tristan Hoare (London), Schlesinger is also known for his photography.
JAMES CHERRY
Sculptural Lighting Designer
Los Angeles and New York-based James Cherry creates sculptural light fixtures that blur the lines between art, craft, design, and sculpture. His innovative approach involves repurposing unexpected materials—such as discarded tights, bones, and piano strings—into striking forms. Cherry developed a fiberglass coating technique to strengthen delicate structures and even formulated a unique clay-like material from studio dust, corn husks, and glue.
GREEN RIVER PROJECT+ EMILY BODE
Interior & Furniture Designers
Creative collaborators and partners, Ben Bloomstein and Aaron Aujla of Green River Project, and Emily Adams Bode Aujla of Bode, merge furniture, fashion, and storytelling. Their shared reverence for materiality, craft, and historical narrative informs immersive, emotive worlds—whether expressed in a space or a single garment. Rooted in personal and collective histories, their work uncovers forgotten details and reimagines the past with emotional depth.
SOPHIE CORYNDON
Artist & Craft Innovator
English artist Sophie Coryndon blends traditional craftsmanship with contemporary innovation, drawing inspiration from medieval manuscripts, Renaissance altarpieces, and natural patterns. With a background rooted in craft—her father was a master furniture maker—she works across woodwork, bronze casting, painting, and sculpture. Her pieces often play with scale to evoke wonder, reinterpreting historical techniques in unexpected ways. What appears to be intricate embroidery may be cast plaster, and her tapestries are layers of cast honeycomb.
SOPHIE WILSON
Ceramicist
Sophie Wilson's journey into ceramics began when she started making pottery for her small shop in the entry hall of her 16th-century English manor. As demand grew, her distinctive slipware ceramics—inspired by 17th-century Staffordshire pottery—gained recognition, fueled by her intimate photography and storytelling on Instagram. Using the sgraffito technique, she etches fluid, expressive drawings into layers of white and red clay, creating pieces that feel both historically rooted and deeply personal.
Casa Cabana
The exhibition will take place within the intimate and storied interiors of Casa Cabana, a Milanese residence designed by the legendary Renzo Mongiardino. Known for his theatrical approach to space, Mongiardino layered rich textures, intricate patterns, and masterful details to create a timeless setting. Once a private sanctuary, Casa Cabana now opens its doors to host 'Speak Memory' exhibition to offer an immersive experience.
