One For The Road
Cabana and Antik Batik Unite For A Second Time, Launching Their Capsule Collection With Friends and Family In The Heart of Milan
There is no stopping Cabana’s ten year anniversary merry-go-round. As the parties roll on, Gabriella Cortese, the elegant founder of much loved French brand Antik Batik, is the latest toast of the town. Her six-piece capsule collection for Cabana is proving a huge hit; print heavy it is an ode to the fabled Silk Road, marrying beautifully with Cabana’s new Silk Road tabletop collection.
The evening kicked off at the full- to- the- brim Cabana shop, Via Borgospesso 8, as guests admired the Antik Batik collection, spilling onto the street whilst drinking champagne. Everyone was decked out in the brand, Brianda Fitz James Stuart, Fabrizia Caracciolo, Martina Mondadori and her team Lena Grivakes, Francesca Mapelli and Sophie Goodwin were donned in layers of sheepskin, handmade block-prints and sequins.
Next invitees including Derek Blasberg, Anunciata von Lichtenstein, Emanuele Farneti and Natasha Fraser hot footed it down the road to Cabana’s very own private dining room designed by Ashely Hicks, Sala Isabella at Sant Ambroeus. Transformed into a heady wonderland of opulence, texture and pattern, guests gasped on arrival.
Two long candle lit tables were covered in Cabana’s new beautiful Silk Road tableware, including the sell-out striped Tingere and Khvia tablecloths and elegant Ginori 1735 plates. Creative contributors for the evening were sourced from all over Italy, breathtaking flowers were designed by Ammanofiori in Rome, and place names were individually hand drawn flowers by illustrator Sol Erquicia in Florence. The different blooms all represented the silk road: pansy, rheum alexandrae, paraquilegia microphyla, gentian, damask rose, tulip, lotus.
Sant Ambroeus served a delicious three course meal, salads of shaved artichoke and roasted aubergine with chickpeas to start followed by saffron risotto with raw prawns, topped off with a very decadent chocolate bomb. The party dispersed at midnight, the ones with the most staying power headed to the bar downstairs for gimlets and more conversation, others heading into the night clutching a bag with Cabana napkins from the Silk Road collection as a momentum.
