Burberry last joined forces with Cabana for Issue 7, with a glorious cover partnership that launched in Spring 2017. Last night put the brands firmly back in business, however.
Cabana founder and Editor-in-Chief, Martina Mondadori, has never hosted a sit-down dinner at her Milanese home before, bringing together 20 of her oldest and closest friends for the occasion. The Italian-English alliance was a huge success: Coco Brandolini, Visconti di Mondrone, Leopoldo e Fiorella Seralvo drank classic Martinis and Hugo Spritz, chatting to Ayesha Shand and Alistair McCullum. The latter, Burberry Vice President, Global Communications, flew in for the night to fly the flag for the brand.
Combining Martina’s love of all things British, within the coziness of her own home, the Aperitivo included mini Harry’s Bar style cheese and ham sandwiches, warm crostini and bites of pecorino cheese with grapes. Then, a traditional Milanese feast was served at two tables, one situated in the heart of the entrance hall, covered with pastel colored spring flowers by Ammano Fiori. They included delphiniums, babies breath and exploding carnations, along with hand-painted watercolor name cards by Spanish artist Sol Erquicia, and Cabana's best-selling Wisteria tablecloths and 'Martina' plates.

Tuscan wines were served, Vermentino and Bolgheri, with a pitch perfect risotto with aromatic herbs, confit cherry tomatoes, sea bass and asparagus timbale with caramelised pearl onions, followed by a crispy pastry basket with warm chocolate or strawberry sauce.
The menu was prepared in Martina’s own kitchen by her favorite cook, Caterina, who creates traditional Italian food with love, but strictly only for a small number of guests. Giorgio and his team of charming waiters kept glasses topped up at all times.
The dinner was also a first for Burberry in Milan; the first of many!
