In the midst of Frieze week, beloved Spanish fashion brand, Macabla, launched its first London residency on Ledbury Road, Notting Hill. Providing some light relief from the onslaught of art exhibitions in the city, Macabla joined forces with creative Alba Maria Faggionato, who invited her closest friends to play dress-up for the night. Alba, a designer based between Italy and Mexico, works with an array of skilled artisans globally, and is featured in the brand’s new campaign, shot at The National Theatre by Alexia Mavroleon.
A kaleidoscope of inimitable charm, Alba has collected a riot of exotic and wildly talented friends from all over the world, including Micaela Vega, Nicole della Costa and Cosima Ramirez (heralding from Argentina, Brazil and Spain respectively) who all gathered at her home to toast the brand. A Spanish spread was served of pan con tomate, stuffed olives, anchovies and jamon, artfully curated by chef Sophie Legard.

Macabla’s founder and owner Marta Vacas Vellarino joined with husband Agustín Manrique de Lara Gómez-Acebo, and the brand’s stylish fashion designer, María Juárez Sánchez. Together they have cleverly put the brand on the map, creating a buzz through its highly anticipated limited collections of clothing and accessories dropped monthly. The hits of the evening were Macabla’s corduroy pants in vibrant green, red and blue, plus super fine knits, everyone fighting over the asymmetric cardigans.
Dan Hall snapped away, with Matilda Lowther as his muse as guests, including Tatti and Mafalda Arrivabene, Freya Nutter, Caroline Lucia and Age Salajoe, spilled onto the terrace clutching margaritas and bottles of Albariño, keeping warm in Macabla’s brightly coloured mittens and balaclavas.
