Miguel Flores-Vianna's book launch took flight in Milan last night, drawing an international crowd of friends and admirers to the Cabana store for a signing with the author himself. Miguel’s exquisite new publication, Sabbatical 2012, is a faithful reproduction of his 2012 diary and chronicles the year that changed the course of his life. Produced by Cabana in collaboration with Smythson - each copy is bound with their sumptuous nile blue leather - the book is Miguel’s most personal work to date.

Guests joined Miguel and Cabana founder Martina Mondadori for drinks at the Cabana store in Milan as friends and fans had their first chance to purchase a signed copy. Flawlessly realised by Cabana’s Creative Director, Christoph Radl, the highly original book is a stylish reflection on creativity and change, complete with Miguel’s daily reflections, polaroids and memories.
Fellow creatives and designers including Jean-Philippe Demeyer, Fabrizia Caracciolo, David Netto, Luca Maria di Marc, Olga di Grecia and Aimone di Savoia - many of whom brought their four-legged friends - showed their support for the renowned photographer and deputy editor of Cabana. They joined the Cabana team and Big Cabana Family as a merry crowd spilled onto Milan’s Via Borgospesso, glasses of wine in hand.

After the signing, Miguel's closest friends, including Amy Astley, Deborah Needleman, Stephen Sills, Osanna Visconti and Allegra Hicks, gathered at Sant Ambroeus for a cozy dinner of Parma ham and buffalo mozzarella, followed by steamed branzino and Miguel's tipple of choice, La piscine.
Martina Mondadori gave a heartfelt toast to one of her greatest confidantes and companions, explaining that Miguel's Sabbatical is of huge significance to her personally: without swapping his life in New York City for his sabbatical year in England, the pair would not have forged their close and creative partnership.
