Guests filled Visual Comfort & Co's sparkling new gallery in Milan this week to welcome Aerin Lauder for her first visit to Salone del Mobile 2025. As champagne circulated, invitees took their seats - thoughtfully paired with a signed copy of Aerin’s latest book, Living with Flowers - for a warm and intimate conversation between friends.

“One exquisite flower in a simple container can be as magnificent as a roomful of flowers,” Aerin shared - a treasured quote from her grandmother and a sentiment that she embraces in her own work. “This is so true and often a simple starting point for someone who is new to decorating with flowers," she said. "I love the idea of a single stem in a bud vase on my desk or vanity to brighten my day. The beauty of flowers is that it can be effortless and beautiful, without feeling complicated.”
As the conversation unfolded, and guests shared their own anecdotes and asked questions, Aerin and Martina shared their cross-cultural experiences of watching their parents host at home. Both agreed this had influenced their love of entertaining, particularly gathering multi-generational groups around floral-filled tables in the summer.
Later that evening, the pair gathered friends for their own intimate dinner, set at a long, elegant table set with delicate flowers and softly glowing candles. In this cozy setting, conversations and connections continued: on design, creativity, and living with beauty.
It became clear that Milan Design Week had once again provided a space for creative minds to come together and exchange ideas, advice and inspiration.

This issue will transport you across countries and continents where craft and culture converge. Evocative travel portfolios reveal Japan's elegant restraint, Peru's sacred churches ablaze with color, and striking architecture in a fading Addis Ababa. Inspiring minds from the late Giorgio Armani to Nikolai von Bismarck spark curiosity, while exclusive homes—from the dazzling Burghley House in England and an Anglo-Italian dream in Milan, to a Dionysian retreat in Patmos and a historic Pennsylvania farmhouse—become portals that recall, evoke and transport.
