Paris Fashion Week may not be known for its quiet moments, but on Sunday evening Martina Mondadori and Tabitha Simmons gathered a small circle of friends at Café de l’Esplanade to celebrate their Thanksgiving Tabletop Collection for Cabana.
Among the table’s guests was Grace Coddington, who brought her unmistakable presence to the evening, alongside Karen Elson, Jo Ellison, Georgina Chapman, Rickie De Sole, Elie Top, Coco Brandolini and Tania Fares, as well as friends from across fashion, jewellery and design.
Guests were welcomed with chilled glasses of Pouilly-Fumé or cocktails - including Saint-Germain Spritzes and beautifully prepared dry Martinis by the Esplanade’s barman - before settling into the cosy banquettes of the private dining room. The atmosphere quickly took on the feeling of an intimate salon: warm and full of conversation.
There, the collection came properly to life around the table. Cabana tablecloths and napkins set the scene, while glasses in shades of burgundy and terracotta were mixed across the setting. Small vases of dahlias and flowers in similarly warm autumnal tones ran between them, giving the table the layered, informal feeling at the heart of the collection.

The Café itself, a handsome Left Bank institution overlooking Les Invalides, has long been a favourite for lunches, dinners, and the all-important Parisian drink. It is one of those addresses that feels both firmly rooted in its neighbourhood and perfectly suited to the international crowd descending on the city during Fashion Week.
Dinner stayed true to the Café’s much-loved menu: chicken rolls, dim sum salad and spicy tuna with avocado were brought to the table to share, followed by miso and ginger salmon or vegetarian curry. Pavlova and red berries brought the evening to a close.
The collection takes its cue from the generous spirit of Thanksgiving: tables made to feel personal rather than overly composed, pieces designed to be placed together, and the simple pleasure of gathering people you love around them.
For one Sunday night in Paris, with Fashion Week unfolding outside and dahlias, wine and conversation filling the room inside, Thanksgiving came a little early.
