An Italian spring arrived in Washington, Connecticut, this week as the historic Mayflower Inn & Spa hosted Cabana's New England debut. Anticipation had been building among guests who received beautifully designed invitations by Paperless Post hinting at the evening's aesthetic – a prelude to the table settings that awaited them. On 26 April, Cabana Editor-in-Chief Martina Mondadori and local style authority Jane Keltner de Valle toasted the Northeast with an intimate celebratory dinner.

The Mayflower's charming Garden Room, with its lattice walls adorned with decorative plates and floral artwork, provided the perfect showcase for Cabana's vibrant Botanica collection. Wicker tables dressed with Iris tablecloths, Ciclamino plates, embroidered Botanica napkins and lush floral arrangements created an elegant tablescape, beneath suspended glass bell jar pendants that cast a warm glow over the gathering.

The evening began with cocktails in the parlour as guests mingled before moving to the Garden Room for an epicurean’s delight: dish upon dish of the most sumptuous cuisine. The distinguished group included photographer Miguel Flores-Vianna - fresh from the launch of his latest book, Sabbatical 2012 - interior designers Ashley Hicks and Giancarlo Valle, and textile designer, Nathalie Farman-Farma.
The art and fashion worlds were equally well represented with artist Paul Arnhold and collector John Auerbach, and fashion designer Wes Gordon. The stylish duos, Brett and Greg Heyman, and Megan and George O'Dell, arrived together, as did the Champalimauds.
The seasonal multi-course menu started with wild arugula salad with stone fruit and hazelnuts, followed by a Mediterranean-inspired burrata with heirloom tomatoes and marinated artichokes, roasted halibut accompanied by English green peas, and duck breast with bread pudding and cranberry chutney. A prime beef filet with baby root vegetables served as the final savory course, while, for those not already satiated, a domed chocolate coffee mousse and seasonal cheesecake provided sweet finales.

By day, the Garden Room's botanically inspired interiors also played host to Cabana with a seasonal trunk show—a harmonious marriage of New England charm and Italian design sensibility, capturing Cabana’s artful approach to entertaining.
The trunk show is open to all on 27-28 April at the Mayflower Inn & Spa. Discover Cabana’s new tableware and lifestyle collections, alongside a curated selection of Paul Arnhold glassware, in a setting that celebrates spring and craftsmanship.
