Last night, Milan’s Galleria Massimo De Carlo became a stage for Italian culinary artistry, as Cabana celebrated A Diary of Culinary Episodes alongside Rummo, the pasta brand celebrated for its century-long devotion to craftsmanship and tradition.

Christoph Radl's recently-published book of recipes, A Diary of Culinary Episodes, came alive, transforming pages into flavors, aromas, and unforgettable moments at a dinner designed to celebrate the beauty of Italian cooking.

From the moment guests arrived, the evening carried a particular magic. The gallery’s crisp white walls and architectural precision softened under warm candlelight, creating an inviting atmosphere alive with the murmur of conversation.

The night began with a relaxed aperitivo – flutes of sparkling wine paired with ribbons of exquisite cured meats – as guests wandered among the artworks, savoring bites and exchanging words. When dinner was announced, the gallery transformed.

The tables, layered in Cabana's signature linens and porcelain dinnerware, set the scene, encouraging conviviality and shared enjoyment. The spotlight then fell on Italy’s finest export — pasta. Each dish showcased Rummo’s precision and devotion, now rendered vividly from A Diary of Culinary Episodes to the table.

The first course was a classic: fusillotti con pomodoro e basilico. A delicate balance of simplicity and elegance. Next came paccherotti lisci con broccoli — rich yet light, lingering softly on the palate, inviting conversation as much as admiration.

The evening’s showstopper, pasta mista con fagioli e scampi, combined tender beans, subtly sweet scampi, and irregular pasta shapes that captured every drop of the flavorful broth. A dish of deep comfort, it encapsulated the heart of traditional Italian cooking.

Complementing the pasta were plates of fresh mozzarella and seasonal vegetables, adding contrast, color, and crunch — a reminder that the finest ingredients need no embellishment. Dessert was festive and joyful: buttery, soft panettone; perfectly tempered chocolates; and mandarins whose citrus aroma perfumed the gallery.

Guests departed with thoughtful mementos: a selection of Rummo pasta to recreate the evening at home and A Diary of Culinary Episodes, destined to inspire countless meals. Even the evening’s menu, designed as a slender bookmark, slipped neatly into the book’s pages — a subtle, clever link between the night and the recipes themselves.

Set within one of Milan’s most striking contemporary galleries, the dinner was a tribute to the Italian table: generous, sensory, and unapologetically devoted to the pleasure of carefully treated ingredients. At its heart, A Diary of Culinary Episodes proved to be more than a book; it was an invitation to experience, savor, and celebrate the joy of cooking.
