TRAVEL GUIDE | CABANA TRAVEL | WORLD OF CABANA

Drawn across continents by the allure of an American education, Asha Chaudhary, CEO of Jaipur Living, left her native India and arrived in Atlanta, sight unseen, stepping onto the storied campus of Emory University. Gracious, green, and quietly cosmopolitan, Atlanta became her adopted home in America. In Georgia's Southern warmth, Asha established the U.S. heart (Jaipur Living) of Jaipur Rugs, a company rooted in India’s centuries-old craftsmanship. Asha shares her favorite spots in vibrant Atlanta, where she still lives today.

My Favorite Places to Stay

The St. Regis is my go-to escape, its serene atmosphere feels like stepping into another world. When friends visit Atlanta, I suggest they check into The Sylvan, a chic stay tucked in the heart of Buckhead. And if you’re looking to be right in the center of it all, The Fourth offers the perfect blend of style, comfort, and easy access to the city’s best.

My Favorite Restaurants

For great Indian food, Chai Pani is my absolute favorite, its vibrant, flavorful street food transports me straight back to Jaipur when I’m missing home and family.

Beyond that, my Atlanta dining rotation often includes the elegant cuisine at St. Cecilia, the cozy neighborhood charm of Gigi’s in Grant Park, and the fragrant, soulful Persian dishes at Rumi’s Kitchen

My Favorite Coffee Shop

Le Bon Nosh is one of my favorites—sunlit, stylish, and perfect for lingering over a chai latte. I also love Brash at the Atlanta History Center, where a great cup of coffee comes with a side of local history and leafy Buckhead charm.

My Favorite Cozy Pubs and Bars

I’ll admit I’m not much of a drinker, but there are moments when the right glass of wine simply calls. For that, I head to Madeira Park by Steven Satterfield, nestled off North Highland. Its ambiance is effortlessly cozy and unpretentious, just what a relaxed evening in Atlanta feels like. For a casual drink or lite bites a little closer to home, my husband and I will hop over to Local Three. They pride themselves on working with local farmers and brewers and have a bourbon bar that needs to be experienced.

My Favorite Museums and Galleries

Atlanta has no shortage of cultural gems, and I find myself returning often with my son to Fernbank Museum, where science and history meet under soaring dinosaur skeletons and immersive exhibits. I also love the creative energy of the SCAD Museum of Fashion + Film, which feels endlessly fresh and inspiring.

Of course, the High Museum of Art is a classic, but one of my favorite hidden treasures is the Michael C. Carlos Museum at Emory: a jewel box of ancient art and artifacts that always leaves me marveling at its quiet richness.

My Favorite Garden or Green Space

I’m especially drawn to the bamboo forest at the Chattahoochee National Park, a serene escape that feels almost otherworldly. I also love the wandering stretches of the BeltLine, where nature and city life intertwine in the most vibrant way.

Beyond the city, I head to Serenbe, a farm-to-table sanctuary just southwest of Atlanta. With an organic farm, seasonal markets, restaurants that serve what you see growing in the fields and edible landscaping edging nearly every path, Serenbe is a garden community like no other. Closer to my day-to-day, our “green team” at Jaipur Living has planted our own garden at our headquarters where, on any given afternoon, we might pluck an eggplant, cucumber, or okra straight from the soil.

My Favorite Shops

For me, shopping is as much about inspiration as it is about what I take home. I love strolling through the Shops of Buckhead, where polished storefronts mingle with charming hidden gems. Sustainability is central to what we do at Jaipur Living, so I often find myself at Labels, my favorite couture consignment store, hunting for one-of-a-kind treasures with stories.

One of my dearest destinations is Dixon Rye, the soulful, design-driven shop created by my friend Bradley Odom. Each piece feels curated with both beauty and purpose. And when I’m in the mood to immerse myself in design, nothing compares to the halls of ADAC. A visit to showrooms like Michael Habachy, Ernest Gaspard, and R. Hughes always leaves me with ideas and eager to bring that creative energy back to my own work.

My Favorite Antiques Stores and Flea Markets

Nothing compares to the treasure hunt of High Point Market, where every corner reveals an opportunity for an amazing find. Closer to home, I often wander Antiques & Beyond, where time seems to pause, or spend a morning at Scott Antique Market, where the thrill lies in the unexpected find. I also love exploring the cluster of antique shops around Miami Circle, each one a little portal to another era.

My Favourite ‘Hidden Treasure’

One of my favorite hidden treasures is the Michael C. Carlos Museum at Emory, a place that feels like a well-kept secret in the city. Tucked within the university’s campus, it’s a portal into ancient wonders—from Egyptian mummies and Greek and Roman statuary to Pre-Columbian artifacts—all presented with an intimacy that makes the experience feel deeply personal.

My Favorite Way to Spend a Weekend in Atlanta

Weekends in Atlanta are all about family. I love starting the day with a workout at The Daily Pilates or at getting coffee at Brash, then heading outdoors to ride bikes with my son at Piedmont Park. In the evenings, we can often be found catching a show at The Fox Theatre, making for a perfect blend of culture, conversation, and comfort. It’s these little rituals—full of energy, laughter, and the city’s charm—that make Atlanta feel like home.
