A few nights ago we gathered a group of our Cabana family to celebrate International Women’s Day with our friends at Buccellati, the storied Italian jewelry house founded in Milan in 1919 and renowned for its Renaissance-inspired textured gold jewelry and intricate silverwork.

The evening was led by Lucrezia Buccellati, the great granddaughter of the brand's founder, Mario Buccellati. As the first woman to lead the Italian jewelry house, it felt especially fitting that I had the pleasure of co-hosting the evening with Lucrezia, and our mutual friend Talita von Fürstenberg, at Casa Tua in New York City.

I have long been an admirer of Buccellati, for more than 30 years in fact. Their designs, so deeply influenced by nature and the Renaissance, have always resonated with me. When I was a young stylist I would often set elaborate tablescapes with silver leaf and flower plates, and this night felt like a return to those early inspirations.

Leaning into a flora and fauna theme, we dressed the table with Buccellati’s intricately designed dinnerware and allowed the house’s little silver animals and colorful jam jars to weave their way between spring flowers cascading across Cabana’s leafy table linens.

Over plates of hamachi crudo, San Daniele prosciutto, and mozzarella, our guests gathered around the table. The group represented many generations of women and an extraordinary breadth of creative leadership. Around the table were directors of art foundations, museum curators, and leaders of cultural institutions alongside women from the worlds of fashion, design, publishing, and technology.

Artists, photographers, writers, and founders, presidents, and CEOs who have built influential businesses across Europe and New York completed the gathering. It was a remarkable group of women whose work shapes culture in so many ways. For me personally, it was also deeply meaningful to have my former boss Martha Stewart join us. Nearly 20 years ago she gave me the opportunity to become an editor, a moment that completely changed the trajectory of my career and ultimately led me to New York City.

It was an evening that celebrated not only women, but also friendship, creativity, and the beauty of gathering around a table, something that has always been at the heart of Cabana.
