Restoration and The Art of Making Good
At Robert Kime’s Ebury Street showroom, restoration takes center stage, with rugs and textiles examined, repaired and reworked by the in-house team. Anchored by the principle of “start with a rug”, the open house follows the life of antique pieces as they move from acquisition to adaptation, with kilims, Oushaks, and Heriz carpets alongside demonstrations that reveal how materials are made fit for use again.

A Maker of the Metropolis: Jessica Light

At East London Cloth, Jessica Light brings her Bethnal Green practice into the open, working at the loom throughout the week as one of the last passementerie makers in the East End. Her latest Wares chapter, The Phoenix and the Carpet, presents a series of one-off trims, tassels and objects that draw on the city's materials, translating brass, steel and tarmac into densely worked, richly coloured forms.
Alongside this, a new handwoven collection, Black Mountain, explores the contrast of jute, linen and rayon across a shifting palette. Visitors can observe live production or book a small-group tassel-making workshop in her studio.
12–17 May, East London Cloth, 7a Vyner Street, London E2 9DG
