“The English garden with all its magic and its folly,” Annabel Elliot responds when I ask her what has inspired this collection of fabrics for Sanderson named Highgrove, like the beautiful house where the King reigns happily with his Queen.
These fabrics depict rose gardens and flowering meadows of fritillaries, squills and narcissus, vegetable gardens and orchards, flower beds that seem to have emerged from Safavid miniatures.

Collections of ferns with a Victorian air, pertaining to a British Arcadia that has been the secret soul of this druidic island since before the times of Elizabeth the Great. An Arcadia of Celts who danced in the light of the moon amidst hawthorns, older ladies who exhibit their hellebores at the annual contest organized by the vicar.
An Arcadia of Flower Children and William Morris, of bugloss and tulips, lilies and rhododendrons, enriched over the centuries thanks to thousands of explorers, making gardening as inspirational and popular as the game of football is in other lands.

Today, this Arcadia triumphs, as in a happy fable, because a good King and a good Queen devote themselves to their Enchanted Garden, and the Queen’s sister, Annabel, weaves the flowers of that garden to bring them into the homes of all.
The Highgrove Collection
Each fabric and wallpaper design in Sanderson's Highgrove collection was directly inspired by the wild, romantic gardens at King Charles III's estate in Gloucestershire.
Pictured second from top, Ewe Cloth - a handwoven Kente cloth - took its design from both the original west African cloth, admired by the King, and the shapes and colors of the gardens' wooden and stone structures. Meanwhile, Stumpery Tapestry is directly inspired by 'the stumpery' - an atmospheric garden based on a Victorian tradition of growing ferns among tree stumps - and Carpet Garden wallpaper originated from a sketch by King Charles. Salisbury Embroidery (pictured top) is named after the Marchioness of Salisbury, who made a considerable contribution to the Highgrove.

The collection, which includes a diverse range of wallpapers and fabrics including toiles, chintz, and damasks, was a collaborative design process between Sanderson - which has held a Royal Warrant for over 100 years - and Highgrove, with the Royal Family actively involved. The wonderfully whimsical campaign, pictured above, was shot at Highgrove.
