The Italians And The Master Shoemakers

Anglo-Italian relations were in high spirits in London last week with Cabana’s takeover at Church's, the traditional English shoemakers.

📍Jermyn St. London

Both Cabana and Church's are united by their commitment to craftsmanship and strong sense of heritage, so, to mark their first partnership, Cabana decked out the Church’s boutique in the style of its much-loved store in the heart of Milan.

Legendary shoemaker Church's was established in 1873, and their wares are still made by hand in the brand's historic Northampton factory. The evening celebrated their iconic Pembrey loafer, with Church's master shoemakers setting up shop in the boutique, showcasing their unique processes and artisanal skill, passed down through generations.

Guests from multiple creative fields - including fourth-generation antique dealer Will Green, designer Jasper Conran, artist Oisin Byrne and stylist Mouchette Bell - gathered for champagne and martinis, while long-standing admirers shopped the new collection.

Flowers by Grandirosa and candles Cire Trudon

A small dinner followed in the private dining room of the oldest restaurant in London, Rules in Covent Garden, chosen for its unique Edwardian feel. Guests including Sofia Brandolini, Leonie Mir, Cassius and Columbus Taylor, and Flynn Roddam dined among abundant cascading French parrot tulips in crystal cut vases, arranged by Cabana favourite Grandirosa and offset by flickering Cire Trudon votive candles.

Iris linen napkins from Cabana's Botanica Collection, inspired by archival pattern designs and printed in Italy, matched menus decorated in the same sell-out print.

When dinner was served, the food was pure 80’s-inspired indulgence: a traditional King prawn cocktail, followed by lemon sole and new potatoes, finished with vanilla cheesecake and chocolate mousse with Baileys whipped cream.

Guests left clutching armfuls of tulips and swag bags with Church’s coloring pencils.
